Our volunteers are the
of Agape
We invite everyone 15 years of age and older to join us on beautiful Raft Island, WA (approximately 50 miles south of Seattle) where we create the ultimate summer camp experience free of charge for families that have a child battling pediatric cancer.
Every volunteer role is essential to creating a magical experience for our campers. We value a diverse range of skills and personalities, to help us build our volunteer team. Learn more about our volunteer positions to find the perfect fit for you!
Volunteer Positions
Week-Long Positions

Family Concierge
Work directly with families, advocating for their needs and preferences throughout the week. Family Concierge’s manage a small group of buddies, assign, Co-Buddies and relieve other volunteers in other positions when they need a break. This position also works to address any challenges that may arise.
Prerequisite: Must have at least one year of experience at Camp Agape Northwest.

Buddy
Work 1on1 directly with a child (child with cancer or sibling) running, playing, singing, dancing, and spending time together throughout the week. Buddies are responsible for advocating for their camper and any needs their camper or the camper’s family may need to their assigned Concierge.
Prerequisite: Must be 16 years of age or older AND have prior camp counselor or childcare experience.

Co-Buddy
Co-Buddies are assigned to work with a Buddy as their assistant. As the Buddy works 1on1 with their camper, Co-Buddies work with them to learn the ins-and-outs of being a Buddy at Camp Agape Northwest. Co-Buddy teams may also be assigned to children with additional needs/accomodations.
Prerequisite: You must be 16 years of age or older.

Volunteer-in-Training (VIT)
Volunteers in Training (VIT) get to experience all aspects of camp. This position is great for first-year volunteers, and all volunteers age 15+. Volunteers will be assigned many different tasks from working with our work-crew to helping with crafts, snacks/espresso, and/or dining crew.
Prerequisite: Must be 15+ years of age or older AND hold a food handler’s permit (required upon arrival to camp).

Dining Crew
Our dining crew brings mealtime to life through interacting with families, helping with meal prep, clearing and setting up the dining hall, and decorating as needed.
Prerequisite: All volunteers MUST provide proof of food handlers permit upon arriving at camp.

Kitchen/Food Prep
Help prepare, cook and plate meals, Clean and organize the food prep area. You may be asked to help with other tasks depending on need.
Pre-requisite: Volunteers must provide proof of food handlers permit upon arriving at camp.

Milkshake/Espresso Bar
Provide families and volunteers with endless milkshakes, coffee, Italian sodas, smoothies and snacks. Attend to any needs in the coffee/milkshake/snack bar area.
Prerequisite: Volunteers must provide proof of food handlers permit upon arriving at camp.

Arts n Crafts
Assist the lead Arts N’ Crafts volunteers to keep the Arts N’ Crafts area clean, organized and ready for creativity. Assist campers and volunteers with anything they may need while creating. Arts N’ Crafts is open most of the day (closed during morning and some program times).

Work Crew
Assist the daily set-up of events and programs, serve meals to families, clean cabins and help maintain property and bathrooms. You may be assigned to other tasks such as giving counselors breaks if needed and assisting during program needs.

If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements and will be available for the necessary dates of your volunteer position, we invite you to apply using our online volunteer application. Follow the instructions and submit the application by the deadline to be considered for a volunteer position in the upcoming year’s camp. Once submitted, the team will review your application. Official offers will be set out in May.
*Please note that first-time volunteers may be asked to participate in additional training to ensure you are fully able to
participate in the camp as a volunteer.

If volunteering for more than a day, you will stay on our site in a tent. Tents and camping gear are not provided, but if accessibility is an issue, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

No, you do not have to volunteer for the whole week. We have many positions that may act as "day” volunteers. Please see all job descriptions above and pre-requisites to find which best suites your skills.
