Volunteer FAQ

What does a normal day at Camp look like and what is expected of me?

  • Your day is filled with tons of different activities like games, crafts, fishing, swimming, eating, dancing, skits, singing, etc.. As a volunteer, you will be able to participate in the above activities, and it is your job to provide campers and families the full camp experience. The volunteer position you are assigned will have specific expectations and responsibilities.

What activities should I prepare for?

  • Please prepare for all activities above. Camp can get quite messy, so please bring extra clothes that you don’t mind potentially getting ruined. There will be a packing list provided closer to camp, and upon acceptance.

What do I bring to camp?

  • Camp is mostly outdoors so it can get hot during the day and cold at night. Make sure to bring shorts, sweatshirts, pants, etc.. Camp can also be messy at times with minimal laundry access. Please bring extra clothes and things that you do not mind getting a little messy. A packing list will be shared as camp gets closer - don’t forget your swimsuit!

Is there a nursing staff on site? Do I need to worry about bringing all of my medications to Camp?

  • There is a nursing staff on site 24/7. Please bring all medications needed for you personally, but it is camp policy to give all your medications (over the counter, prescription, supplements, vitamins, etc.) to the nursing staff for safety. The nurses are available anytime to give you the medication(s) you need.

Is there a regular rest time at Camp?

  • Camp is amazing, but it can be exhausting. There is a built in hour each day for rest that is meant for families, but this does not mean you are “off duty”. Please note that there are several volunteers who are able to give you a break when needed. Please talk to the Volunteer Coordinator during the day to arrange this.

What happens if I forget something I need?

  • We might have what you need, but if not, please talk to Camp Leadership when these needs arise.

Where do I stay when I get to Camp?

  • All volunteers sleep in tents. Tents and sleeping gear are not provided. If this is a barrier, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@campagapenw.org. Never slept in a tent before? No worries! This is a great place to gain some experience. All volunteer tents are located within a short walking distance to the bathhouse. If you prefer to stay off site, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your plans.

How do I get to Camp?

  • Camp is located at 205 Camp Road NW Gig Harbor, WA. Volunteers should plan to take the bus from Seattle to camp. If you need to drive yourself, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator.

How do I know if I have been accepted to Camp Agape Northwest?

  • All applicants will receive communication from the Volunteer Coordinator by May.

How many volunteers are accepted each year to Camp Agape Northwest?

Do I have to volunteer for the entire week
