My favorite part about volunteering at Camp that it is a place of love and acceptance. All volunteers and campers are welcomed as they are without judgement. We are free to enjoy time together and be ourselves.

Brooke Herman
Board Secretary
I have been volunteering with Camp Agape for a year and a half.
I love volunteering at Camp because our family was honored to attend as campers and I want to continue the Agape love by giving back to other families like ours.
-

Tom Phillips
Treasurer
(Tom didn’t send in a short bio. Likely because he was busy thinking of creative ways to make camp better. While sometimes a bit gruff on the outside, he puts a lot of heart into camp – from logistics, to improving the dock, to making a portable beverage wagon that delivers milkshakes and espresso drinks to families throughout the region.)
-

Paige Balut
Board Member and 5k Chair
I have been volunteering on the board of Camp Agape Northwest for about 3 years.
My favorite part about volunteering at Camp Agape Northwest is that I get to give kids with cancer a week filled with fun and summer joy - just like I was given and experienced as a camper at Camp Agape Northwest.
-

Christina Bradic
Board Member
I’ve been a volunteer with Camp Agape Northwest since 1998 and once I got involved, never looked back. I have served on and off the board in various roles, including board president since 2022. Currently I am honored to serve as director alongside my husband.
Camp is full of fun, laughter, and truly magical moments. And while it brings so much joy to others, I keep coming back because it centers me. Camp reminds me of what really matters - love, resilience, and the power of community.
-

Jen Doepping

My favorite part of Camp is family. We all spend a week a year together and become family who love each other unconditionally. We can drive each other nuts too, but we are there for each other night and day, 365 days a year. Camp Agape Northwest is love and family.

Volunteering at Camp Agape Northwest gives me the chance to create memorable and supportive experiences for families navigating cancer. As someone who believes in the power of Camp, being a part of this compassionate community is incredible rewarding.

I love volunteering at Camp Agape Northwest because it is truly my favorite place to be. It’s a place where I can give back just like people did for me and my family when I was young and had an illness. I love that it is a place for people to just be themselves, feel loved, and create friendships that last a lifetime. Camp Agape Northwest is where people let their light shine and it is the most amazing place to be.

No matter the role, I always feel lucky to be a part of a week that brings so much joy and connection to kids with cancer and their families. Camp is a place where fun and laughter meet deep purpose, and it’s an honor to help be a part of that space year after year.

Pat Tsagalakis
Pres Pat (short for Presvytera - a title given because I am married to Father Tom, a Greek Orthodox priest). I have served on and off the board for 6 years, and have been a photography/media team volunteer for 21 years. I also help in connecting with parents.
I love volunteering at Camp Agape Northwest watching relationships grow and develop between families and our volunteers while also witnessing AGAPE in action.

I love volunteering at Camp Agape Northwest because I get the see the best in human kindness and goodness. Being part of the shared experience of mutual appreciation and gratitude between campers and volunteers is incredibly inspiring and warms my heart!
-

Grier Smithwick-Hann
Head Nurse
I’ve been a nurse and Camp Agape volunteer since 2016. Since 2019, I’ve worked at Seattle Children’s in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, first as a bedside nurse on the inpatient unit, and now as a Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Coordinator.
I love that Camp Agape shows me the long-term, positive impact of treatments I help facilitate within hospital walls. It’s a place where kids can just be kids, siblings shine, and parents can relax and find community. Seeing families outside of a clinical setting is a constant inspiration of how resilient people are!
